What Is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It aims to improve your website's search visibility when people look for services related to your business. The higher your website ranks, the better your chance of being found in online searches. The increased traffic to your site could provide many opportunities to gain new customers.
How Does SEO Work?
Whenever you use search engines such as Google, they send spider bots to crawl the web (spider refers to crawling the web, and bot is short for robot).
In less than a second, these spider bots search the entire WWW and gather every website that could be relevant to your search.
Sites are then gathered, indexed, and ranked based on whether the information is relevant to the search.
Search engines consider many factors to determine relevancy, but the four most significant are traffic, time on site, content, and domain age.
Three of the Top SEO Factors
Site Traffic
Site traffic is one of the top three factors in your Google ranking, specifically, how many visits your website gets per month.
Every time someone does a google search, spider bots gather, index, and rank every site on the WWW to bring you the most relevant content. The spider bots like it when a website already gets a lot of traffic because they think it must have valuable information. They will continue to send new traffic to that site.
In other words, you need to have traffic to get traffic.
How To Speed Up The Process
This process will happen organically, but there are ways to speed it up. Sending traffic to your website is one of them.
By increasing your website’s traffic, you’re growing your site’s relevancy in the eyes of the spider bots, and their opinion is important!

Time On Site
A top factor that goes into your Google ranking is time on site, precisely, how long visitors stay on your website once they visit.
Every time someone does a google search, spider bots gather, index, and rank every site on the WWW to bring you the most relevant.
The spider bots look for visitors who stay on your site for extended periods. They think a website must have valuable and relevant content if visitors linger.
Video Content
One of the easiest ways to get visitors to stay on your site is to add video content. Videos draw a person's attention, and folks will remain on the page for longer than if there were only pictures.
Adding video content is much easier than you think. Do you or anyone in your office already have video content available? If so, all you need is the YouTube link to embed it into your site.
To do this, you can follow this step-by-step process outlined here. Or, contact us, and one of our support reps can walk you through the process.
Ideas for Video Content
Don't have a video handy? Use your cell phone, record a one-minute video, and introduce yourself to potential customers. You can take the video while you sit at your desk or stand outside in front of a property.
In this one-minute video, include the following:
- Your name
- The areas where you work
- What sets you apart as an agent
- Why your customers love you
The video shouldn't be longer than one minute – that's the max length of people's attention when they watch an online introduction.
Keep it easy and natural! Your potential customers will appreciate your authenticity.
Once you've finished, upload the video to YouTube and add it to the About Me page on your website. You can follow the step-by-step process outlined here. Or, contact us, and one of our support reps can walk you through the process.

Total Page Views
A top factor that goes into your Google ranking is total page views. Once visitors are on your site, how often do they click around?
Every time someone does a google search, spider bots gather, index, and rank every site on the WWW to bring you the most relevant content. If your total pageviews are high, the spider bots assume that your website must be valuable and relevant. Therefore, they will continue to increase your site’s ranking.
Regularly and consistently updated site content is crucial for your site’s SEO. The spider bots look for continually added content and refreshed existing content to determine relevancy.
Blog Content
One of the easiest ways to increase your total page views is to add a blog to your website because they have relevant content and are updated consistently.
Don’t worry. You don’t have to write one yourself! There are plenty of free/low-cost real estate-themed blogs out there that you can use. To add a blog to your site, you need to get an RSS Feed. An RSS Feed is a code you get from the blog source and then add to your website. Once you add the code, your blog will automatically update whenever the blog source publishes a new post. You don’t have to lift another finger after adding the RSS feed!
Zillow Porchlight is the most well-known real estate blog that will provide a free RSS feed. Other low-cost options are from Keeping Current Matters or Inman. Suppose you have a subscription to either of those companies. You get the RSS feed and apply it to your site in minutes by following the step-by-step process listed here.
